Lydia Pope's voice instruction had a powerful, life-altering, and lasting impact on our daughter. Ms. Pope instilled in our daughter a belief in her own talent, provided her with the guidance she needed to improve, and incited a passion for pursuing a career in music. Presenting material in an enthusiastic and caring manner, she built a strong relationship with our daughter as they worked together to develop her ability as a vocalist. Under Ms. Pope's tutelage, Sarah rapidly progressed to achievements at the highest level including successful auditions for All State Chorus, ACDA High School Honor Choir, Young Artists of America, highly selective summer programs, the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, and ultimately, acceptance to multiple prestigious music schools. Without Lydia Pope, our daughter may never have been able to realize her potential.

“One of the qualities that I have always admired about Ms. Lydia is her commitment not only to enrich the students’ education, but also to helping them develop and grow as individuals. She focuses on learning how to function as an effective member of a team, leadership skills, responsibility and some basic functions of humanity such as giving back and compassion for others."
"Stephanie is a great fit for Rachel; just the right mix of being encouraging and pushing her to reach outside her comfort zone! She does an amazing job helping Rachel prepare for auditions and performances! We've seen tremendous growth in Rachel's range and overall ability!"

"Lydia and Stephanie at LC Voice Studios are amazing. My daughter has been a student for 3 years and I can honestly say, she has gained so much confidence not only in her vocal abilities but in every aspect of her life. From auditioning for various plays and vocal competitions, she has learned to take on new challenges. She loves the warm environment Lydia and Stephanie create at the studio and as a parent, I see the level of talent these two ladies bring to the table. My daughter is full of energy after a lesson and is excited to audition and grow."

“I have worked with many choral directors in the area, and Lydia Pope ranks in the top 5%. She is constantly bettering herself as a teacher, performer and music educator.”
-Sarah Howes, colleague
“...It wasn’t until I left South Carroll that I realized that every technique, every nuance and every exercise that Ms. Pope performed was specifically designed to encourage her students to reach their utmost potential...These inner city students who normally would have been overlooked are now performing, receiving praise, and working toward their life goals. They are able to do this because I am working to make it so, (and) I am working to make it so, because Ms. Lydia Pope worked to make it so for me.”
-Floyd Jones, former student, current music teacher
“Ms Pope is a rare gem of a teacher; a real stand-out at South Carroll. Ms Pope taught me to dream big, and that I can reach successes beyond the boundaries of my small hometown. From my time at SCHS and all the way up to this year, Ms Pope has served as a mentor, advisor, and cheerleader to me as I pursue my path in a tremendously difficult field.”
-Madeleine Jansen, violin teacher and performer with
Rod Stewart, Josh Groban, and Trans-Siberian Orchestra
“Ms Pope holds her students to incredibly high standards and clearly her students reach these standards.”
-Katy Shields, parent of two students
“I could go on and on about what she has taught me in music and how it has benefitted our school’s chorus and theatre but what is more important is what she has taught me as a person...Ms. Pope has shown us the joyful feeling of music and charity.”
-Federico Alvarado, Musical Theater Student on scholarship
“Ms. Pope has taught me never to settle for mediocrity.”
-Karleigh Hubble, Musical Theater student on scholarship
“Even when we may not have wanted it, she taught us what we needed to learn... Ms. Pope does all this not because she has to, but because she wants to. She is so dedicated to her students that she will go to the ends of the earth to help them succeed.”
-Ben McCardell, Carroll Community College student
“She has taught me to stand up for what’s right, which is why this email exists.”
-Heather MacLean, current college student, liberal arts
“On top of being a teacher and director, I would have the audacity, which is so incorrect, to call her my friend. She exuded every trait that teachers are encouraged to have.”
-Julie Esworthy, Student, Fuhrman University
“She is a woman of integrity, professionalism and the utmost talent. All of these aspects, all of her students admire, especially our boys. The love of music that my wife and I instilled at home has only multiplied under her enthusiasm and proper instruction.”
-John and Konnie Pavlik, parents of two students
“ ... I never had the best social skills. I never liked talking to people I didn’t know or getting up in front of audiences to speak or to perform...She coached me and all of us how to be confident on stage, to perform our best, no matter who was watching-be it ten or a thousand people. Because of her I’m no longer afraid to sing or speak to a large audience.
-Jay Vette, graphic designer
“ Ms. Pope was instrumental in integrating my eldest son into her classroom and making him feel welcome. He viewed her classroom as a place where he was a valued member of a group and she encouraged him both musically and socially. He continued his music in college as part of an a capella group and again his skills flourished. Ms Pope has had a very positive influence on his life.”
-Susan Vette, parent of two students
“Lydia gives exceedingly more than she is required. She pushes her students to be their best not only in music, but then carries those concepts deep into their lives. Family. Hard Work. Dedication. Commitment. Purpose."
-Megan McPherson, Senior Music Advertising Degree, Belmont
